LG Electric Ranges Recalled Due to Fire Hazard
Learn about the LG electric range recall due to fire hazards caused by accidental knob activation. See if your model is affected and how to stay safe
LG Electronics has issued a recall of over 500,000 electric ranges, including both slide-in and freestanding models. The recall was initiated due to a safety risk associated with the front-mounted control knobs. These knobs can be unintentionally turned on by adults, children, or even pets, resulting in the accidental activation of heating elements and increasing the risk of a fire.
What’s the issue?
The front control knobs on certain LG electric ranges are overly sensitive and may turn on with minimal contact. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), there have been at least 86 reports of burners turning on unintentionally. These incidents led to 28 fires, with over $340,000 in property damage. There have also been eight reported injuries, including burns, and three fires that resulted in the deaths of pets.
Which models are affected?
The recall includes a wide range of models manufactured in Mexico and Korea between 2015 and January 2025. You can identify your range by checking the model and serial number located inside the oven door or the storage drawer. Below is a list of the recalled models and serial number ranges:
